What are my options?

You can order tile without our consultation or design services. However, if you seek our help developing your design decisions, or if your project includes made-to-order tile, we move to the Design Phase of your project.

Fully-coordinated decorative tile, borders, murals, panels, and coordinating plain field tile and trim elevate a plain tile installation into a work of art.

There are many details that go into creating a design, whether for a single project such as a tile fireplace surround or tile backsplash, on up to coordinating all tile throughout your home – or throughout multiple homes and workspaces.

We offer two options for your design: Basic Design Solution or Advanced Design Solution. You can begin with a Basic Design Solution and proceed from there to an Advanced Design Solution if you wish to expand your design choices.

We work with you to help you understand the best ways to develop your project. To start either design process, we ask you or your contractor to provide details about your installation.

✓ The age and style of the house or room

✓ The desired color scheme, which can be illustrated through photographs, magazine tear sheets, wallpaper, fabric swatches, and paint samples

✓ Floor plans and elevations with accurate measurements and initial estimates of tile quantities to fill the area

✓ The type of installation desired – mud-set or thin-set

Basic Design Solution

Once we receive the information we need, we create your Basic Design Solution using decorative tile from our made-to-order Tile Design Library and/or our Mudita Murals and Panels, perhaps set off by our plain Historic White tile and trim from our collection.

We'll discuss your Basic Design Solution with you, describing how our Design Library patterns and Mudita modular elements can be arranged to fit your specific architectural design.

Because they rely on existing designs from our portfolio, Basic Design Solutions do not include layouts or drawings. Design elements – plain and decorative tiles – will be noted in your quotation.

Advanced Design Solution

For a complex, highly-individualized installation calling for additional attention to the details of design and layout, a full Advanced Design Solution can provide choices from our Tile Design Library and Mudita offerings or the option of creating new custom art or pattern design and development.

Our Advanced Design Solutions create the ultimate in tile installations and can include:

✓ Tile layout to fit complex architectural specifications

✓ Working with your team of craftspeople so we can prepare specialized designs, drawings, quotations, and specifications

✓ Detailed materials and installation specifications

✓ Planning custom fabrication of tiled architectural components for direct installation without on-the-job tile cutting and laying (e.g., kitchen range hoods, islands, bath spas, and tub decks)

✓ Optional on-site installation supervision for complex projects

Design Deliverables – Basic Design Solution:

✓ The Basic Design Solution is free of charge.Your Basic Design Solution includes a 20 minute phone consultation, followed by a quotation listing specific tile designs, quantities, prices, and delivery dates.

✓ You may order tile samples at our regular stock prices.

Design Deliverables – Advanced Design Solution:

Prices for Advanced Design Solutions are quoted on an individual basis and depend on scope and complexity.

✓ You'll receive a minimum of two Advanced Design Solutions, including drawings and tile design options to be used.

✓ When you choose your final design, we'll provide a price quote including quantities and delivery schedule based on your design selection.

✓ Upon our receipt of approval of your design, tile and shipping cost quotes, schedule, and your initial deposit, we may create an initial glaze sample and/or a strike-off of your decorative tile for your approval.

Important Considerations

The Advanced Design Solution is subject to our Design Phase Commission Agreement.

All Quotations/Contracts are subject to our Conditions of Sale.

Your 50% deposit holds your spot in our production schedule. Your balance, plus shipping, is due when we notify you that we've completed your order.

Delivery dates for custom, hand-painted tile are based on the size of your order and your position in our production schedule. Please be aware that it's not unusual for our Studio to be booked 6 to 12 months in advance!
